Off and running

Partner and executive recruiter Zach Rainwater’s alarm goes off every weekday at 4:30 a.m., and he doesn’t dare hit the snooze button. Zach holds himself accountable to starting his day off with a winning mindset and workout at the Central Support Office.

“I started the routine in 2019, and it took me less than two weeks to notice a measurable difference,” Zach said. “My energy and productivity went up, and I start each day with a can-do attitude.”

He’s not alone. We know Connor Group associates have developed successful habits and routines they swear by.

Loop is starting a new series highlighting what motivates and inspires our associates to start their days off to be relentless. We’re asking associates to share what gets them ready to attack the day and achieve impossible goals. Today, Zach kicks off our series with his favorite early morning motivation.

“Shortly after starting my morning workout routine, I began getting regular early morning text messages filled with motivational quotes, texts and videos from partner and CEO Bob Lloyd,” Zach said. “It sparked energy in my workout and my workday.”

Loop asked Zach to share his favorite early morning motivational videos and key takeaways…

What videos motivate you the most?
Ben Lionel Scott’s YouTube channel. It’s filled with nearly 200 different motivational videos.

Why do you like this channel?
I love upbeat, raw, and direct motivational speeches. Ben Lionel Scott creates weekly videos with a combination of some of my favorite motivational speakers: David Goggins, Eric Thomas, Jocko Willink, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, just to name a few.

Why do these videos resonate with you?
All of Ben Lionel Scott’s videos focused on overcoming obstacles, always performing at your best, giving It your all, and not making excuses. The subject matter, combined with the speaking of my favorite motivational speakers and the upbeat and intense music, really fire me up!

What’s your favorite video on this channel, and why?

I have two key takeaways:

  • If you want to perform at an elite level and be the best, you must bring it every day, in every moment. You can’t just show up and expect results. You have to put in the work.
  • High achievement must be who you are, not just what you do. You can’t just flip the switch when you’re at the office. You have to want it every second of every day.

When do you listen to this?
Partner and VP of talent acquisition Chris Jemo, Bob and I will either listen to this every morning at 4:30 a.m. in the gym while we’re working out or in the locker room as we’re getting ready for the day.
