Beginning to take shape

A decade-long vision is starting to become a reality as the 22,000-square-foot addition to the Central Support Office nears completion. The concrete is poured, the steel beams are in place, and the one-of-a-kind structure begins to take shape.

The combined vision of Larry and nationally renowned architecture firm Moody Nolan will house 66 additional offices and two conference rooms, providing much-needed extra space as the CSO prepares to support 55+ properties across 22 markets in the coming years.

The ambitious build started in the spring of 2021. While on track to finish on time, the project was not without its challenges.

“We’ve hit a number of obstacles that we needed to overcome. The most difficult was relocating all of the utilities,” said partner and director of CapEx Rodney Johnson, who has been the lead on the project. “In order to start digging the footers for the annex, we relocated all of the existing electric, gas, and sewer lines. It took over 60 days to get figured out.”

Rodney and his team stayed solution-oriented and are set to begin the final stages of construction, which includes converting additional space in the CSO from cubicles to permanent office space on the 2nd floor.

“Over the next few weeks, we’ll begin installing the windows and drywall,” Rodney said. “Shortly after that, we’ll begin installing the office furniture. By May 1st, all the furniture will be delivered and installed.”

Our Financial Impact Team (formerly known as the Accounting Department) currently operates off-site at CAO (Central Accounting Office). The team is excited to rejoin the other departments when the annex opens in June after nearly two years of working out of a separate location.

“We can’t wait to rejoin our fellow elite associates at CSO,” said partner and Onesite manager Ben Little. “CAO has been great, but having everyone in the same building again will bring an ‘iron sharpens iron’ element that we’ve missed. It’ll be good to be in the same office as everyone else again.”
