‘Everybody is hyper-focused’

Lead tech Christopher Jemo doesn’t just knock out work orders. He keeps an eye on transactions. Turn tech Sam Sandlin isn’t just focused on turns. She’s checking how many approved rentals are left to hit the goal. At Austin Springs in Dayton, every associate is locked in on Win the Week.

“The first thing I did when I found out about Win the Week was sit down with each member of my team and explain how this competition affected them individually and the property as a whole,” general manager Lisa May explained. “Now, everybody is hyper-focused on managing those small, obtainable objectives.”

The year-long competition is challenging our properties to hit their weekly transaction goals at the correct rates. Through week 7, Austin Springs remains near the top of the leaderboard, along with 11 other properties that secured a win. This week, it’s Olivine in Denver earning the highest score, with 15 points. Austin Springs has won its last two weeks, pushing the property to 7th place in the company for total points. It’s also the top-performing property in the Dayton market with a 5-2 record.

“It shows what we’re doing is working,” Lisa said. “Win the Week is front of mind and so are our transactions. It’s an hourly conversation that happens here. We’re laser-focused. It’s as simple as that.”

The other part of the property’s winning strategy is making sure each win is recognized.

“We celebrate every transaction in the moment,” Lisa said.  “When Alex Millard gets a transaction, we write it on the board together. We make that part of the fun. Getting to write on the board is a win.”

Even in the middle of this competition, teamwork comes first. At Austin Springs, that approach extends beyond their own success. It’s about lifting up the entire Dayton market.

“Team Dayton is very close,” Lisa said. “I am not afraid to raise my hand if I need help at my property and I know someone will step up. They know I’ll do the same. We’re all one team.”

Our teams across the country are working hard and supporting each other to move the needle. Right now, Bayside Arbors in Tampa is in first with 78.7 total points. This week, there’s been a shake-up in the ratings. Check below to see who just claimed second place.
