‘He’s my guy’

There’s a bracelet you can find around the Dayton/Cincinnati market that reads “WWDPD.” What would Dave Peacock Do? Over the last decade, partner and regional service trainer Dave Peacock has become an incredible asset for The Connor Group in more ways than we could have ever imagined.

Dave is responsible for training and developing our newest talent in the Dayton and Cincinnati markets, passing on his expert knowledge of our systems to the next generation of Connor Group service associates. He’s also taken the lead alongside partner and director of service training Paul Leber, helping order and ship supplies to all of our properties throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

What might surprise many is Dave has stepped up and taken on additional responsibilities at Colin’s Lodge the last two years. The program, which started as a Connor Group Kids & Partners initiative provides recreational and enrichment activities for young adults with special needs. And when it comes to the Lodge’s bottom line, Dave has had a game-changing impact.

“He’s my guy,” Colin’s Lodge director Gayle Horton said. “We don’t have a maintenance team at the Lodge, so anytime I have an issue, I call Dave.”

Dave has filled the gap on multiple fronts at the Lodge, painting the gym, fixing leaks, installing a generator and helping dry out the basement after it flooded multiple times. He even thought long-term and worked to install a backup sump pump to make sure the workout space stays dry.

“Dave is always saving us money,” Gayle said. “As a non-profit, that’s invaluable. And he doesn’t do it for any kind of recognition. He does it because he has high ownership and self-accountability.”

He saved $500 fixing a leak on an outside hose for just $94 when an outside vendor quoted the project at $600. He spends at least four hours a month at the Lodge, making sure all maintenance concerns are addressed.

“It comes back to our core Connor Group systems,” partner and regional head Sal Gracia said. “Dave is always thinking of ways to do projects in-house, fix vs. replace and save money. He’s solutions-oriented and one of my number one go-to associates. You can always count on Dave.”

As a trainer, Dave has focused on developing six maintenance associates in the Dayton/Cincinnati market, all of which have resulted in promotions in 2020:

  • Isaak Claudio to senior lead tech
  • Jermaine Thomas to lead tech
  • Josh Martin to lead tech
  • Brad Crowley to lead tech
  • Kylen Rohrig to lead tech

“Dave is committed to the Dayton/Cincinnati market,” Paul said. “I wish I had other people who could develop as many associates as him.”
