Record-breaking April!

Hitting traffic, approved rental, and renewal goals all in the same month is hard.  Expectations are set high, and our associates are constantly raising the bar.  Amid a pandemic, most companies are seeing a 20-30% decrease in leasing compared to 2019.

What about The Connor Group?  Well, we’ve always known we’re a bit of an outlier.

In the month of April, we had 16 properties meet or exceed all their property goals.  Even more impressive, eight properties hit all their goals in back-to-back months!  That’s an impressive two-month trend, showing momentum moving in the right direction!

Congratulations to Ardmore, Edge, Scofield, Glenmuir, Excelsior & Grand, City Walk, Allura, Firestone, Highland Park, Saxon Woods, Drexel, Estates, Fairway Lakes, Northwoods, Falls at Settlers Walk, and Hunters Chase for hitting all of their April goals.  Outstanding!

Extending childcare payments

We realize the need for childcare assistance still exists due to school and daycare closures.  To date, The Connor Group has paid out $25,000 to associates in childcare benefits.  Bob Lloyd announced that we will extend these payments through the end of May.

Broadcast schedule change

As we work to return to ‘normal,’ we remain committed to communicating with associates via our broadcasts.  We will move to one broadcast per week at 9 a.m. on Fridays.

Shout Outs

Property Manager Amanda Barnes in Minneapolis has been crushing goals at TWO properties, City Walk, and Excelsior & Grand.  She joined Ryan Ernst for an interview to share her secrets to running a total of 800 units 30 miles apart.

Congratulations to the entire Dallas Market for hitting all its goals in April.  This is the first time in at least three years all properties hit in the same month.  Fantastic performance by the teams at Allura, Highland Park, Saxon Woods and Firestone, under the leadership of Regional Head Steve Redding.

Allura Manager Kaitlin Harris is making a name for herself!  She’s confident, competitive, has grit, and finished April as the top property company-wide for exceeding goals.  She crushed April, finishing with 28 renewals on a goal of 20, 20 approved rentals on a goal of 16, and drove 72 pieces of traffic on a goal of 70.

Chief of Staff Krista Henehan and partner Paul Leber ordered and secured 190 no-touch thermometers and masks for every associate in a matter of days!  Nice teamwork on a tight timeline!

Meanwhile, in Columbus, partners Tad Hunter and Rob Murray have a hidden talent we now have discovered. Sewing – and we have the photos to prove it!  Tad and Rob spent their personal time this week on a ‘Plan B’ for facemasks, not knowing how many we would get from our vendors.  They’ve sewn 60 re-usable facemasks for maintenance associates.

Partner Rodney Johnson has been busy saving the company millions of dollars recently.  He negotiated a $2M savings on a major cap-ex sewer project at Stonebridge.  He also leveraged his relationship with a vendor to help one of our Kids & Community Partners non-profit partner program get a parking lot resurfaced for free.  That project would have cost $10K!  Rodney is currently re-bidding other cap-ex projects and will deliver a 20% overall savings this year.

Finally, a huge congratulations to Sarah Burns, who recently earned a promotion to VP of Accounting.  Sarah joined TCG in 2019 and has shown tremendous leadership, grit, and work ethic.  She did a fantastic job leading the department through year-end.  Congratulations on a well-deserved promotion.
