The missing puzzle piece

After COVID hit in 2020, Jenein Sous knew she was ready to step out of the retail industry and into a new career. That next step led her to The Connor Group, where she fit right in. Fast forward three years, and Jenein is a senior manager who earned our Core Value Award at the Chicago Awards celebration today.

Shortly after joining the company, Jenein moved to Austin and successfully sold Scofield. She returned to Chicago and successfully helped sell Stonebridge Village. In January 2023, Jenein took her talents to Wheaton 121, where she led the team to increase rent roll, economic occupancy and NOI (net operating income).

“Wheaton has been a challenging property, but I have no doubt that Jenein was the missing puzzle piece,” said partner and senior director Michelle Murphy. “In Jenein’s mind, her quality of work is not good enough unless it’s an 8.5, no matter the task. And she does that while holding her team accountable to the same standard.”

You can see how Jenein’s efforts come together to form a bigger picture, one that includes Wheaton 121 being put in position for sale and her recently being put on the radar for partner.

“There are two things that Jenein does great – her customer service and her quality of work,” said Michelle. “Her customer service is unparalleled. She is a very well-liked manager with her residents and team. Her patience and her ability to communicate with people are unmatched. I always say that she doesn’t listen to respond. She listens to understand. That is one thing I love about her, and it speaks to her customer service.”

We asked Jenein to share her most impactful Winners’ Circle card with us. Here is what she chose…

When did you get it?
November 2022

Who was it from?
Partner and regional head Brad Dykes

Why did you get it?
For our performance at Stonebridge in October.

What does it say?
“Tremendous job in October! Sales Results ✔️ DQ✔️ Turn Productivity ✔️ R&M Budget ✔️ You have held yourself and your team to the highest standard! Leadership matters!”

Why was it so impactful?
I have been in a leadership role since I was 19 years old. I have never been so challenged in my career as I was at Stonebridge. Those last two words, “leadership matters,” mean everything to me. Stonebridge was successful because our team was relentless, but for me to lead them there is one of my greatest accomplishments thus far, and for my boss to recognize that meant the world to me.
