‘We don’t lose’

When partner and senior director Michelle Murphy and her team at City Walk in Minneapolis checked the Connor Olympics results for July, they got a silver medal.

“The team was very disappointed when we only made silver the first month,” Michelle said. “Gold is the only route we’re going to go. We don’t lose. We figure it out every single day, and we grind. That’s the entire mentality of the Minnesota market.”

This relentless pursuit paid off when results came in for August and City Walk struck gold. The team was one of 13 properties to earn gold in the Connor Olympics. The six-month-long competition gives managers, sales associates and techs the opportunity to earn bonuses by hitting their goals.

The team at City Walk includes partner and sales lead Tanja Carter, sales associate Kim Frelich and sales associate Danielle Labbatte, who just joined the team after helping Wheaton 121 achieve back-to-back gold medals.

“They’re individually competitive because they want to be the best,” Michelle said. “But what they’ve really learned and understood is that the biggest impact you can make is when you drive to be the best, it makes everyone around you stronger.”

While the team at City Walk has some tenured players, some new kids on the block are making a name for themselves in Denver at Olivine. The property won back-to-back gold medals in the Connor Olympics.

“I am proud of the team for all the hard work,” said general manager Aaron Schroeder.

This month, team Olivine has a responsible individual on each of the Olympics criteria to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

At 90 days in, sales associate Lia Wilson has proven herself with approved rentals, so she is the RI for approved rentals this month.

“I am extremely proud of Lia,” Aaron said. “She closed above standard at 32% for August. The confidence she exudes and her buy-in for The Connor Group and the Olivine team has been fantastic.”

General manager in residence Emily Zych is responsible for customer service.

“Emily and Lia are ready to go for it,” Aaron said. “They’re both really excited to take charge and seeing their ownership has been great. They both have an owner’s mentality.”

Aaron is the RI for renewals – making sure the 90-day book is at 50%.

“We all contribute for each metric, but there’s a clear division of responsibilities, and we know our area of focus,” Aaron said.

As for the competition, Aaron isn’t sweating it.

“Level up,” Aaron said. “We’ll see you guys at the podium.”
