Behind the scenes

There’s a saying in filmmaking that “the editing process is the last draft of a good script.” Our success in the second half of 2020 certainly provided a great script for The Connor Group’s second National Awards broadcast.

Last month’s National Awards Dinner broadcast highlighted 11 National award winners, 23 National award finalists, and an additional 354 awards spread out across our 15 markets and the central office.

With just under 99 hours of video having been shot for the broadcast, the final cut inevitably had to leave some footage on the cutting room floor.

The first clips to be cut were the seemingly endless supply of outtakes. As some associates might be unwilling to admit, this often included a third or fourth take just to get a line exactly right.

But, if you’ve ever explored the bonus features on the old DVD copy of your favorite movie, you’d know there’s much more than a few outtakes that can be left out of the version that makes it to theaters. There was no shortage of deleted scenes for our latest Awards broadcast. So, if you found yourself wondering what other shenanigans Greg Roberto got himself into, you’re in luck.

Movies are often drastically altered from what was originally intended during the editing process. Our Awards broadcasts are no different. Thankfully, no animals were harmed, or awards broken during the making of this picture.
