Do the Dew

Hard work doesn’t go unnoticed at The Connor Group. Associates who go above and beyond are rewarded and recognized. It’s a cornerstone of our culture.

“We don’t give participation awards at The Connor Group, so when you get R&R it makes you feel proud to know you’re doing a good job and someone else sees your hard work too,” partner Courtney Dies said.

Loop asked associates to share what favorite R&R they’ve given to another associate and why. For Courtney, it was filling an entire fridge full of Mountain Dew in 2017!

Question: Who received the R&R?
Answer:
Matt Brewer, who was my lead tech at Ellison 23.

Q: What was the R&R for?
A:
Thinking like an owner. Matt never brings a problem without a least one solution. He would have already priced out which solution was the cheapest too. This set Elliston 23 up to be under budget on repair and maintenance for the month and year going into the summer of 2017.

Q: How did Matt react when he received the R&R?
A:
For anyone who knows Matt, he’s a simple man who doesn’t “want” anything. But if you spend more than an hour with him, you’ll know his favorite thing in life is Mountain Dew. He always says that his veins have more Mountain Dew in them than blood. I wanted to surprise him, so I filled our mini-model unit’s fridge full of Mountain Dew. Then I wrote up a work order for a bad smell coming from the fridge, and we couldn’t tour it. The team and I went with him to “sparkle” the unit while he fixed the fridge. We were all there when he opened the fridge. It was glowing lime green from all the Dew. His smile was priceless!

Q: Why do you like most about our R&R program?
A:
There’s no better way to show people count than by giving them recognition for their hard work. We make our R&R individualized and give it in a group setting. It’s always connected to evidence-based results.

How many companies do you know that take the time to write handwritten cards and/or give personalized gifts to recognize their people? I don’t know of any! I love to watch when R&R is given, not only for the associate’s joy and excitement, but also for the motivation in the room for everyone else to go out there and earn their next R&R.
