Impressive from the start

People always have been – and always will be – The Connor Group’s key to success. It’s our job to find, interview and evaluate those special people. In recent months we’ve asked recruiters and leaders within the organization about their all-time best hires.

In a previous installment of this series, partner Zach Rainwater, who left recruiting to join our Investor Department in 2022, told us about hiring regional head and partner Brad Dykes. Now he’s back with another of his best hires – senior director and partner Tiffany Montoya

Why was she one of your best hires?
She is the first property manager that I have hired that earned a promotion to partner and she has truly helped take the Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus markets to the next level.

What do you remember most from her recruiting process?
I called Tiffany to give her feedback from one of her interviews and to get her set up for the next step of the process. She answered the phone, and the store she was managing experienced a flood earlier in the morning and had zero power. I remember it impressing me that she was dealing with a huge problem at her store but still made it a priority to communicate with me and was still committed to keeping things moving in the interview process.

What made you think she would be a good fit?
I remember from our first phone call she was going to be great- she talked in specifics and gave great examples of developing her team and showing grit.

Which of her traits do you wish you could find in more candidates?
Tiffany was hungry for something new, and you could tell by the way she communicated and the way she was willing to do whatever we needed her to do to prove herself. She also was quick in responses which is a recruiter’s dream!

What do you expect from her in the future?
Now that she earned partner, I expect Tiffany to take her performance to an even higher level and to continue to think and act like the owner she is!
