Two recruiting teams go head-to-head, battle for hires

The recruiting department turned into a battleground during our last hiring period. Field recruiters Kevin Pierce and Madi Prether assembled their teams and set out for a successful 45 days of hiring. In true Connor Group fashion, a consequence was on the line – the loser would face a morning of shame dressed as a pumpkin in the Central office atrium.

During the competition, our associates learned valuable lessons of teamwork and shared hiring strategies. Madi and Kevin’s teams discussed what was working vs. what wasn’t working with their candidates in meetings. This direct communication encouraged growth and camaraderie.

“The competition builds morale and it’s cultural,” Kevin said. “We all have to bring competitive spirit and have an internal drive to win at the end of the day.”

The challenge ignited a fire in our people and created urgency. Kevin’s team, the atomic achievers, hired 21 associates in 45 days. The quarterback of the team was field recruiter Willow Hennessee. She exceeded her goal, hitting nine hires on a goal of eight and brought in two new techs.

“She’s crushing it,” Kevin said. “Willow did the heavy lifting and helped us cross the finish line.”

As the final day of the recruiting period came to a close, Kevin’s team came out on top. Madi took the loss in stride. She arrived suited up in her bright orange pumpkin costume in the atrium armed with donuts, making the victory even sweeter for Kevin’s “Atomic Achievers.”

This short-term competition had long-term benefits. The recruiting department is focused on partnering with the properties to really find out who fits the market. Kevin said this open communication will make their hires more effective.
