Getting behind the wheel of a Lamborghini or Ferrari, revving the engine and racing around a track at 140 miles per hour is, for most people, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our regional service trainers were lucky enough to knock this item off their bucket list last month, taking luxury cars for a spin at Harris Hill Raceway in Austin.
“It was a good bonding experience to get all the trainers out of the office and let loose on the track,” Partner and director of service training Paul Leber said. “Normally, you only see these types of cars in photos or magazines.”

The trainers were together in Austin not just to burn rubber, but to stay up to speed on the latest service technologies at the regional service trainer meeting.
Our regional service trainer meetings take place three times a year. Once in the early spring, leading up to summer, and after the summer season in October and November. These meetings aim to set clear expectations on upcoming projects and ensure 100-percent alignment across all markets.
“It’s incredibly important that we are all on the same page going into summer,” Paul said.
Systems in the field continue to evolve. To adapt to new technology, we’re constantly training our trainers. We’re finding more properties are converting to smart technology that requires new troubleshooting methods. At Edison in Austin, HVAC systems are controlled by smart panels.

“Regional service trainer Pedro Caballero can see how the HVAC units are performing from his smartphone,” Paul said. “We’re moving from carrying a giant bag of tools to a small bag of tools and a computer.”
The trainers also collaborated on new training modules for our service associates. Those materials are now available on Loop under our forms and resources section, making it easy for our techs to troubleshoot problems and constantly expand their skillsets.
“Our trainers are working to build the training materials of the future,” Paul said.
You can find new training modules for gas appliances, heat pumps, floods, mold and more!
