Wonderful Winterfest

The gym was alive with anticipation as snow fell outside. Students at the Greater Dayton School packed the bleachers, buzzing with excitement for what had become a favorite holiday tradition, Winterfest.

Winterfest is more than just a celebration; it reminds us of the joy and wonder this season brings. For the students, it’s about creating moments they’ll carry with them for a lifetime, moments of pride, community, and connection. From heartfelt remarks by partner and GDS Principal A.J. Stich to the excited cheers as gifts were unwrapped, the day was filled with reminders that every child deserves this time of year.

“The students were so excited and overjoyed,” said GDS Director of Operations Sarah Sealock. “It made me so proud and thankful to work at The Greater Dayton School and with The Connor Group.”

This moment reflects the deeper purpose behind the work associates contribute daily. In preparation for Winterfest, 83 Connor Group associates volunteered to shop for and wrap gifts, all made possible by the generosity of Kids & Community Partners. Winterfest embodies more than holiday cheer; it’s an opportunity to teach students about generosity and gratitude.

“This event provides our students the opportunity to reflect on the generosity of others,” Sarah explained. “Hopefully, it inspires them to be adults who give back.”

The impact of Winterfest reaches far beyond the gifts. It’s about creating moments that remind every student they are part of something bigger. Whether decorating pottery at Cozy Melts to gift their families or marveling at The Nutcracker performed by the Dayton Ballet, these experiences become lasting memories.

“These are experiences that will last a lifetime for our students and allow them to celebrate with their classmates and teachers,” Sarah said.

As we reflect on and connect with those we love most this season, let Winterfest remind us of the lasting difference we make together. Thank you for helping us pursue our purpose and make the holidays truly special for so many deserving children and families.
